Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies Say Wanted Man Fleeing From Officers Collapses, Later Dies

VCSO.JPEG

An autopsy is pending after a wanted man apparently collapsed, and died trying to flee from Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies.

It happened Thursday night in Saticoy.  Deputies with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit showed up on Nardo Street to try to arrest Miguel Burciaga Junior for a felony warrant.

They say the 28-year-old man saw them, and fled on foot.  Burciaga ran through the backyard of a home, through a business, and into some agricultural fields.

But, the pursuing officers say the Ventura man then fell to the ground.  When they reached him, they say discovered he was suffering from a medical emergency.  They started CPR, and called paramedics.  Burciaga was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
