One Dead, One Seriously Injured Following Crash On PCH

CHP investigators are trying to figure out what led to a traffic accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County which led to one person being killed and a second seriously injured.

A car was stopped on the right shoulder of PCH near Thornhill Broom Beach at around five Monday night when the driver suddenly pulled off of the shoulder, and tried to make a U-turn.

An oncoming car smashed into the vehicle.  The 19-year-old driver of the car making the U-turn died at the scene, and her 19-year-old passenger was seriously injured.  Both victims were from Mesa, Arizona.

The driver of the other car was unhurt.  Traffic was delayed on Highway 1 between Port Hueneme and Malibu for about two hours.
