An August, 2020 Minuteman III launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base

If you’re up early Wednesday morning, you might see a spectacular sight in the sky over the Central and South Coasts.

The Air Force is planning to test launch a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base.  The window for the launch is 12:01 to 6:01 a.m. Wednesday.

It would be the latest in an ongoing series of test launches from the base intended to test the readiness of the missiles and crews.

The unarmed missiles are flown to a test range in the South Pacific.  It’s the fourth planned Minuteman launch from the base this year.
