An effort by law enforcement officers to connect some homeless people on the Central Coast with social services led to the discovery of a body.
San Luis Obispo Police visited some homeless camps along a trail in the Los Osos Valley Road area Thursday morning. When they tried to contact someone inside of a tent near the trailhead, they discovered the body of a man.
Officers say it appears he had been dead for several weeks. There was no indication of foul play. Several other homeless people who knew the man say he had ongoing health issues.
The man was in his 60’s. His name hasn’t been released. An autopsy is pending.
