South Coast University Adds New Sports Management Degree

Southern California is home to nearly a dozen professional sports teams, plus some of the biggest programs in college athletics.  Now, a South Coast university is going to offer a new major in sports management.

California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks is adding the degree program.  Cal Lutheran launched a sports management minor in 2013, and it’s currently one of the university’s most popular minors.

Most colleges offering sports management programs are on the East Coast, or Midwest.  But, Southern California is a huge sports market.

And, the Los Angeles Rams currently have their training facility on the Cal Lutheran campus.  The new program will offer classes looking at everything from sports marketing to operations.  Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU Radio.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
