South Coast Art House Movie Theater Reopens For First Time Since Start Of Coronavirus Crisis

A South Coast art house movie theater is reopening Friday, showing films for the first time in more than three months.  Santa Barbara’s Riviera Theater is back in business.

The theater is operated by the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

It has taken a number of coronavirus related precautions.  The staff is wearing masks, disposable gloves, and they are having their temperatures checked regularly.

The theater is using disposable seat coverings used for every screening.  And, to insure social distancing, reserved seating is being used, and 250 seats have been removed.

Metropolitan Theater officials say they plan to begin their reopening process next week, with the reopening of some of their theaters in the Santa Barbara and Goleta areas.
