The pilot of a small plane killed when it crashed on the grounds of a Central Coast school has been identified. Tigran Garabedyan of Burbank died in Wednesday’s accident in Orcutt. The 38-year-old Burbank man was flying from Van Nuys to Santa Maria Airport when his aircraft had some type of trouble.

The plane deployed an emergency parachute, but it was unable to stop the crash. It went down on the grounds of Ralph Dunlap Elementary School. No buildings were damaged, and no one on the ground was hurt. Federal investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
