With High Brush Fire Season On Way For Central, South Coasts, Landowners Get Brush Clearance Notices

The November, 2019 Cave brush fire in Santa Barbara County

While we are focused on the coronavirus threat on the Central and South Coasts, there’s another major public safety concern which soon could become an issue. High brush fire season is just around the corner.

Ventura County firefighters say more than 18,000 parcel owners in the county have been set brush clearance notices. The letters are sent to property owners in what they consider to be high brush fire danger areas.

People getting the notices are required to clear all brush within 100 feet of homes and any other structures on their property. The brush must be cleared by June 1st, or the county will take steps to do it and bill the owner.
