Ventura County Makes Free "Essential Worker" ID Cards Available For Farmworkers

Some South Coast farmworkers are getting special ID cards as a result of the coronavirus crisis to show they are essential workers.  Ventura County is issuing the free cards to reassure the workers they won’t have problems getting to and from work.

Some workers have been afraid to go to work because of the county’s “Stay Well at Home.” order.  Ventura County officials say the keeping the county’s agriculture industry operating is critical, because it’s helping to provide the food we eat.

The cards are printed in English and Spanish, and identify the person as an essential worker.

They are being offered free at charge through the County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office.  Growers can get them through the office for distribution to their employees.
