Ventura County Based University Pulls Plug On Graduation Ceremonies Because Of Coronavirus Concerns

A South Coast university has announced it won’t hold its commencement ceremonies this spring because of coronavirus concerns.  Officials with Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks say they are looking at doing a virtual event, and possibly an in-person ceremony down the line.

The university is also cancelling in-person classes through the end of the spring 2020 semester, and relying on online instruction.  Plans call for residence halls to close at the end of the month, but the university is making arrangements for international students and others who have nowhere to go.

Most Cal Lutheran in-person events have been canceled into May.  As part of social distancing efforts, the university is asking that no one bring visitors to campus, except for those helping students in the moveout process.

Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU.
