Voters Approve Some Tax Hikes On Central, South Coasts; Mixed Results For School Bond Proposals

Voters on the Central and South Coasts said yes to some proposed tax increases, but some school bond measures had mixed results. Ojai voters approved a hike in the hotel bed tax for visitors which will help pay for City of Ojai projects like street repairs. Measure C is expected to raise about $1.3 million dollars a year. And, Lompoc voters okayed a 1% sales tax hike which will help pay for things like public safety in the city.

Voters in Santa Barbara County’s Hope Elementary School District said yes to a bond measure for school improvements, but Moorpark School District residents rejected their bond proposal. Oxnard voters approved ethics reform proposals for city officials, and term limits for city council members. And, Santa Paula residents approved a plan to move the City Clerk and City Treasurer’s posts from elected to appointed positions.
