Longtime Central Coast Mayor Dies

A longtime community leader who served three terms as mayor of a Central Coast City has died.

Eugene Stevens was on the Lompoc City Council for more than 15 years in the 1970's and 80's.

He focused on efforts to beautify the city, and promote tourism.  He was one of the founders of the Lompoc Mural Society, which supports the creation of murals to share art and the community's history. 

Stevens was living in Banning, California at the time of his death.  The former Lompoc mayor died on January 5th, which was his 91st birthday.
