Company Reaches Settlement With Ventura County Over Hazardous Material Spill

A hazardous waste spill has turned out to be an expensive situation for a South Coast company. Ventura County prosecutors say CEMEX Construction Material has agreed to pay $37,000 to settle civil charges related to a 2018 accident at the company’s Oxnard facility.

The agreement covers state, Ventura County, and the City of Oxnard’s costs in dealing with the spill. The company isn’t admitting liability for the accident.

The deal requires CEMEX not to violate environmental laws in the future.
