String Of Small Earthquakes Rocks South Coast

One of the larger in the string of earthquakes Thursday along the South Coast

A string of small earthquakes rocked the South Coast Thursday morning.

A magnitude 3.3 quake happened at 4:58 a.m., followed by a 3.4 at 5:05 a.m.  Both were centered in the Pacific Ocean about three miles west of Ventura.  No damage was reported, but people reported feeling the quakes in parts of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

The two early morning quakes were followed by a string of microquakes with epicenters in the same general area off the coast.  Around a dozen have been recorded, but most were too small for people to notice.
