Food, Wine Festival To Help South Coast Community Hit By Disaster Celebrate Comeback

It’s been a year and a half since heavy rainfall in the fire ravaged mountains above Montecito sent a torrent of mud and rocks through the community, killing 23 people. One of the many after effects was on businesses. Many reported in the wake of all the publicity about the disaster, tourism was off and sales below normal.  Now, Montecito is reporting a big comeback.

Bob Ludwick is President of the Coast Village Association, which represents businesses. He says things finally bounced back this summer.

Montecito is celebrating its business comeback on Saturday afternoon, with an event on Coast Village Road with an adult oriented food and wine event called “Taste of Coast Village.” The event is from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, with early bird tickets allowing admission at one.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
