Former Restaurant Manager In Ventura County Convicted Of Stealing Customer Payments, Tips

Prosecutors say a former restaurant manager in Ventura County has been sentenced to two years in jail, after being convicted of stealing more than $100,000 from a restaurant, and its staff. Investigators say Michael Joseph Gomez was manager of Oxnard’s Tierra Sur restaurant.

They say the Camarillo man figured out how to manipulate tips intended for staff members, and then stole the money. They say he also voided some customer payments and pocketed the cash.

The thefts went on for more than three years before being detected. The 34 year old man pled guilty to four counts of felony grand theft.

In addition to 16 months in custody, and 32 months of supervised release, Gomez has been ordered to pay $114,000 in restitution.
