Many Struggle To Cope With Borderline Bar And Grill Attack At Six Month Anniversary

It was six months ago Tuesday that a Ventura County community had what many call the most difficult day in its history. 12 people died after a gunman entered the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, and opened fire. After being confronted by law enforcement officers, he then killed himself. The investigation into what happened that night is still ongoing.

While the attack has dropped from the headlines, some family members and friends are still trying to come to grips with what happened.

On Monday, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant who died as a result of the attack was honored in Sacramento. The California Peace Officers Association paid tribute to the ten officers who died in the line of duty statewide last year. They included Sergeant Ron Helus, who was fatally wounded while trying to stop the gunman in Thousand Oaks.
