Simi Valley Policeman Injured In Confrontation With Man

A man is behind bars in Ventura County after authorities say he attacked a police officer.

A Simi Valley Police officer on patrol at about 5:30 Friday night saw Christopher McCabe in a gully near Alamo Street and Texas Avenue.

Police say because the Simi Valley man was a known drug user with a criminal record, the officer stopped the 29 year old man. After questioning, the policeman tried to arrested McCabe, but investigators he knocked the officer to the ground. An off-duty policeman passing by saw what happened, and cornered McCabe with his vehicle.

The officer was treated and released at a hospital. McCabe was arrested for battery on a peace officer.
