A man shot in the head during an attack more than a month ago in Ventura County has just died.
Michael Mendoza was shot July 11th as he was standing outside of a car on Edgewood Way in Oxnard. It was initially thought that he, and a seven year old girl in the car had been hurt by flying glass when a gunshot shattered a window. At the hospital, it was discovered the 56 year old man had been hit in the head.
Mendoza improved enough that he was released from the hospital in mid-July, but he was re-admitted July 27th. He died on Monday from complications from his injuries.
Detectives are trying to figure out what led to the shooting, and who was responsible. The seven year old girl wasn’t seriously injured.
