Santa Barbara Woman Admits Theft From Elderly Couple; Charged Them $7500 A Month For Pilates Lessons

A physical therapist in Santa Barbara County has been sentenced to jail after prosecutors say she took advantage of an elderly couple, charging them $200,000 for three years worth of private Pilates classes.

Investigators say at the peak of the theft, Yvonne Alish Castillo of Santa Barbara was charging the couple $7500 a month for the classes.

They say the 34 year old woman made sure no one else was in the room when she collected the checks. An employee of the couple became suspicious, and a review of their bank records uncovered the theft.

Prosecutors say Castillo pled guilty to felony grand theft. In addition to a six month jail sentence, she will have to pay more than $100,000 in restitution.
