The 2017 Santa Barbara International Film Festival is underway, and Thursday night what’s considered the event’s highest honor is being presented to a Hollywood icon.
The festival’s “Maltin Modern Master Award” will go to Denzel Washington in a ceremony at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theater.
Washington earned an Oscar nomination this year for his big screen adaption of the play “Fences,” which he also directed.
Past winners of the award include Johnny Depp, Michael Keaton, Bruce Dern, Clint Eastwood, George Clooney, and Will Smith.
