Missing Hiker Found After Long Night In Ventura County Wilderness

It was a long weekend for a South Coast woman and her family, after she became lost during a day hike and spent a night lost in the wilderness. The Oxnard woman went for what was supposed to be a day hike Saturday in Ventura County’s Sisar Canyon. When she didn’t return home Saturday night, family members contacted the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. A helicopter equipped with night vision equipment started a search, as did Search and Rescue Team members. Around 1 p.m. Sunday, two hunters found the woman, and contacted the Sheriff’s office. A Sheriff’s Department helicopter airlifted the woman out of the area, and aside from some minor cuts and scratches, she was in good condition.
