Man Arrested After Wild Hit and Run Chase Which Left Motorcyclist Dead In Ventura

A Ventura County man is facing multiple charges including murder after his car smashed into four vehicles.

Ventura Police say an unmarked police car was headed westbound on Highway 126 near Kimball Road around 2 p.m. Friday, when a car collided with it, and fled. The detectives were unable to catch up with the speeding vehicle. The fleeing car then hit three more vehicles, including a motorcycle, but didn’t stop.

The driver finally pulled over a short distance from the scene of the collisions, and was arrested as he tried to leave with a motorist who had stopped in the area. The motorcyclist, whose name hasn’t been released yet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victor Martinez of Santa Paula was arrested for second degree murder, evading officers causing death, and other charges.
