Federal Sweep Targeting Social Security Fraud Includes Three Ventura County Residents

A federal sweep targeting Social Security fraud in California led to the indictments of nearly two dozen people, including three Ventura County residents.

Federal prosecutors say the indictments focused on people who were illegally receiving social security benefits. Among those caught in the sweep was a Social Security Administration employee from Thousand Oaks. Daysi Salazar-Arias was arrested on an eight count indictment which alleges she diverted money to herself, but made it appear as if the money was going to legitimate beneficiaries.

Prosecutors say that in all, the 22 people indicted stole $2.6 million dollars in Social Security benefits.
