South Coast City Joins List Of Those Banning Styrofoam Containers
A South Coast city has joined the list of more than 100 jurisdictions in the state trying to tackle a part of the litter problem by banning the use of Styrofoam food and beverage containers. The City of Ventura will ban the use of polystyrene containers as of July 1st.
The restrictions include things like foam cups, plates, bowls, meat trays, clamshells, and coolers.
The Ventura City Council unanimously voted to ban the use of the styrofoam products last year, noting that letter from them has significant long-term environmental impacts.
The ordinance includes a one-year exemption for food and beverage providers suffering financial hardships as a result of the ban.
