Firefighters Battling Sherpa Fire Change Tactics In Response To Intense Heat Monday

Firefighters found themselves in heat zones of 105 degrees Monday on the front lines of the Sherpa Fire.

With that, the command staff ordered a safety stand down until conditions changed.

They did, later in the day.

The oppressive heat can lead to illnesses in the rugged, difficult to access areas.

Already there have been some medical concerns for firefighters.

As part of the response team on the front lines, there are EMTs and paramedics nearby, as well as special quad vehicles to help get to firefighters who need help or even a rescue.
