The COVID-19 numbers continue to rise, with more than 1200 new cases reported in the region Wednesday, with ten additional deaths.   But, they are much more than numbers.  Each one of these cases is a person.  Each one of those deaths is someone’s brother, sister, father, mother, or friend.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports from Marion Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, where he has one of those stories, a very personal one.  His father died from COVID-19 complications.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
