Santa Barbara City Councilmember Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Santa Barbara City Councilmember Oscar Gutierrez revealed at Tuesday's meeting that he has COVID-19.
Gutierrez and other members of the council attend their meetings via Zoom, and he announced the diagnosis there and on his social media pages.
Gutierrez says he contracted the virus from his mother, who travelled to see family over Thanksgiving against his wishes.
Someone in that gathering had COVID, which transferred to his mother, than to him.
Gutierrez says that he is not asymptomatic, and is at home recovering. He, his girlfriend, and his mother live in the same home, though his girlfriend does not have COVID at this point.
Up to this point, the Councilmember says he had been extremely cautious.
