South Coast City To Resume Charging Downtown Parking Fees Suspended By Pandemic

A South Coast city which suspended on-street parking fees due to the pandemic will resume collecting them.  The City of Ventura suspended the fees in its downtown area in March, to try to encourage people to visit downtown restaurants for takeout food.

The closures also reduced the demand for parking in the downtown area.

But, with community starting to open back up, parking is now more in demand, and the fees help to manage it.  The fees also help pay for downtown improvement projects.

You can still enjoy free parking for a few more weeks.  The city will resume collecting fees October 13th.  That’s also when enforcement efforts and the issuance of tickets will again take effect.
