How about posing for a picture near an 8-foot-tall lighted California poppy? That’s one of the art installations in Downtown San Luis Obispo this month.

San Luis Obispo is running the May Flower art project for the second year.

87 locations around the city are decorated with floral artwork by 75 artists.

The May Flower Initiative launched a year ago, as a way to bring beauty and creativity to the city during the first lockdown and was so successful that it’s coming back.

Bettina Swigger from Downtown SLO organization says the community project has "blossomed into something even greater than it was before."

Artists painted directly onto glass windows downtown, and Swigger points out that as well as being pleasing to look at, it's a great way to draw attention to local businesses.

More details on the locations can be found here.
