911 Hang-up Call Leads To Standoff On South Coast

After a 911 call ended in an abrupt hangup on Thursday night, police followed the call to a house in Santa Barbara.

There they found an uncooperative man inside the house, with his wife outside.

Police surrounded the house to resolve the situation, but the situation escalated and the SWAT team was called out.

"Threats were made," says Sergeant Ethan Ragsdale, who did not disclose the nature of the threats, "It was enough to allow a response with the SWAT team and the CNRT [Crisis Negotiation Response] team as well as numerous patrol officers that  were the initial responders to this call."

The man was eventually arrested at around 2:30 a.m., while a baby that was in the house was rescued and taken to a medical unit for evaluation.

Andy worked at KCLU from 2016 until 2022.
