One Ventura County firefighter is dead, and a second injured following a traffic accident in Santa Barbara County.
A water tender involved in efforts to fight the Canyon Fire crashed. The CHP says the accident happened off of Highway 246 near Purisma Road, outside of Lompoc just after six this morning. It ended up on its side.
Santa Barbara County Fire Department officials say a passenger, who was a 38 year Ventura County firefighter, was fatally injured.
The driver escaped with minor injuries. CHP investigators are trying to determine exactly what happened.
