Residents living in Solvang have had two nights of unusual noises that woke some people up with questions this week.
Monday, an unarmed Minuteman III missile went up in an early launch from Vandenberg airforce base, a day after its scheduled launch was delayed 24 hours.
The next night, it was overnight rumbling and the sheriff's department now says that was the sheriff fire air unit completing nighttime hoist training at the nearby Santa Ynez Airport.
Night hoist training is very valuable, and when it takes place it's a critical, often life-saving operation.
