It’s Chris DeCarlo’s Actors’ Workshop at Santa Monica Playhouse, helping you conquer the critic within, overcome competition fear, and have fun discovering your artist’s voice. And it’s the only workshop in town where you get to hone your skills and then put them in action in an original play – not a showcase - performed for the public at the end of every session – every Actors’ Workshop session offers a new play, a new opportunity, a new role written especially for you via the internationally acclaimed ShortBurst® Theatre process.
Unleash your creative self in a unique experience that uses theatre to enhance communication, build self-confidence, and explore interpersonal relationships. It’s a great tool for actors at all levels of proficiency, augmenting audition, cold reading and scene study techniques. And it’s also a great experience for non-actors who want to be more comfortable in their bodies and hone their communication skills.
Actor/director/playwright DeCarlo has worked with thousands of performers and is directly responsible for more than 250 world premiere productions. Recent credits include Doug Knott’s Last of the Knotts (Critic’s Choice! LA TIMES), Jerry Mayer’s acclaimed Aspirin and ELEPHANTS (Critic’s Choice! LA TIMES) and Albert James Kallis’s world premiere A DeLUSIONAL Affair.
