It was an unexpected adventure for some 30 people on a tour bus in Santa Barbara County. The bus caught on fire.
It happened just after 6:30 Saturday night, in Montecito. The bus was headed south on Highway 101 near Sheffield Drive when the driver noticed there was something wrong.
He pulled over, and stopped. By then, flames and smoke were coming from the engine compartment of the bus. Fortunately, everyone was able to get out safely.
Montecito firefighters quickly knocked down the flames. The southbound 101 was completely closed for about a half hour. It took about three hours to fully reopen the highway.
