The Goodwill store in Carpinteria is closed because of storm damage to the roof

One of Goodwill's stores in Santa Barbara County had to close after the roof collapsed.

The recent storms and rainfall caused damage to the roof of the Goodwill store in Carpinteria.

"With the high winds and the large amounts of water that was coming down, it just seemed to build and build until about 25% of the roof caved in," explained Spencer Cabral from Goodwill industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

Cabral said it will be three to six months before the store can open again.

He said the smaller community has a love for the store and Goodwill want to take that into account and get the store up and going as soon as possible for "the people in the community who need access to those donated goods."

Staff from the store have been deployed to other local stores.
