San Luis Obispo County has its first diagnosed case of the monkeypox virus.

Total number of confirmed cases in Tri-Counties hits 15.

San Luis Obispo County is reporting its first case of the monkeypox virus.

San Luis Obispo County Public Health officials think the person contracted the virus from another area, and not locally. They are doing contact tracing to see if anyone else was infected.

It brings the total of known cases in the Tri-Counties to 15. Ventura County is reporting 11 cases, and Santa Barbara County — three.

Nearly 2,000 cases have been confirmed statewide. No deaths have been reported from the virus in California. Most people who get it become better in about two weeks without treatment.
