A South Coast man has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison for a hit-and-run DUI collision which left a couple dead.

It happened in February of 2020, in Goleta. Prosecutors say Eric Ramirez-Aguilar was driving on Cathedral Oaks Road under the influence of alcohol when he swerved onto the shoulder.

He struck and killed Adolfo and Mary Jane Corral, who were out walking their dogs. They were both killed, leaving behind four children.

Ramirez-Aguilar fled the scene. He was later arrested. The Santa Barbara man pled guilty to felony gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, as well as two other charges. The guilty pleas set the stage for the 15 year sentence.
