Man arrested in connection with string of sex crimes on South Coast

Multiple incidents in Isla Vista left many people concerned about safety.

It was a string of crimes which created a wave of fear in one South Coast community. A man was randomly sexually assaulting women in the Isla Vista area. Now, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives say they’ve made an arrest in the case.

Last Monday night, a man flashed several women in the community. There were also two attacks, in which the man grabbed and fondled women.

Detectives say they identified a suspect in the incidents. Over the weekend, they arrested Michael Angelo Auclair of Port Hueneme for the incidents.

The 30-year-old man has been charged with indecent exposure and sexual battery.

He’s being held in the Santa Barbara County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
