Man seriously injured in officer-involved shooting on Central Coast

A man was hot, and seriously injured in a confrontation with Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies Wednesday.

A man was shot, and seriously injured in a confrontation with Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies Wednesday.

String of hit-and-run collisions involving the man led up to confrontation with officers, and shooting.

Detectives are trying to determine what led to a string of hit-and-run collisions on the Central Coast which ended with the officer-involved shooting of a man.

It happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Law enforcement officers received a call to be on the lookout for a man involved in multiple hit-and-run collisions in Lompoc.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the suspect on a nearby street. Investigators say they are sill trying to determine exactly what happened next, but two deputies opened fire.

The man was hit in the upper torso, but is expected to survive. His name hasn’t been released yet. No one else was hurt.
