A South Coast city has promoted someone who’s been a part of its staff for more than three decades to its top non-elected spot.

Rebecca Bjork is Santa Barbara’s new City Administrator. She’s already familiar with the job, serving as Interim City Administrator since last September.

Bjork has worked for the city in a number of capacities over the years. She was Santa Barbara’s Water Resources Manager for seven years. And, she was Public Works Director for five years.

Bjork fills the vacancy created by the departure of Paul Casey, who left the post last summer after more than two decades with the city.
