Oxnard Police say they recovered this gun from a man who led them on a car chase Thursday afternoon.

Oxnard Police man say man led officers on chase, ramming patrol unit during process.

A South Coast police officer was injured when an effort to stop a car for a traffic violation led to a chase, and arrest.

It happened Thursday afternoon in Oxnard. Officers from the Police Department’s Gang Unit tried to stop a car for a traffic infraction at H Street and Gonzales Road.

But, the driver sped away, crashing into a curb a few blocks away. As officers reached the scene, the car rammed one of the patrol units.

The driver, identified by police as Jorge Garcia, fled on foot. An officer was injured while the 18-year-old man was being tackled. They say the Oxnard man had a loaded pistol in his waistband, and tried to reach for it before he was taken into custody.
