Impacts of COVID-19 surge continue to hit Central, South Coasts with more high case numbers

COVID-19 numbers are showing some improvement on the Central and South Coasts, but there's concern about potential impacts from the Thanksgiving holiday period.

The latest numbers show that the COVID-19 surge is continuing to hit Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo Counties hard.

Santa Barbara County had nearly 3,900 new cases since Friday; Ventura County's next update expected Wednesday.

New COVID-19 case numbers released Tuesday show the continuing impacts of the surge on the Central and South Coasts.

Santa Barbara County is reporting 3,893 new cases since Friday. The positivity rate among those tested went up slightly, from around 19% to 22%

San Luis Obispo County had 1,565 new cases since Friday. It averaged 383 new cases a day over the last two weeks, the county’s highest daily average of the pandemic.

Ventura County reports its numbers on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
