Alisal Fire burned nearly 17,000 acres.

It dropped out of the headlines weeks ago. But, Los Padres National Forest officials announced Friday that the massive Alisal wildfire is finally officially “out’.

The nearly 17,000 acre wildfire in Santa Barbara County started October 11th in the Santa Ynez Mountains. It quickly burned south down to the ocean, destroying a dozen homes and closing Highway 101 for three days.

The fire was fully contained November 20th. No smoke, flames or hot spots have been spotted for the last 30 days.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
