Man Struck And Killed While Walking On South Coast Highway

An Oxnard man was stuck and killed on Highway 101 in Ventura.

CHP officers say the man was in fast lane of Highway 101 in Ventura.

Investigators are trying to figure out why a man, who was struck and killed by a car on the South Coast, was walking on Highway 101.

It happened at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, on the southbound 101 near California Street. CHP officers say Jose Perez of Oxnard was walking in the highway’s fast lane when he was hit by an oncoming car.

The 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was injured.
