Ventura Pier Reopens After Closure Due To High Surf Safety Concerns, Minor Damage

A historic South Coast pier which suffered some minor damage from huge surf this week has been reopened to the public.

Waves hitting 15 feet high at times prompted the closure of the Ventura Pier Monday because of safety concerns. It reopened Wednesday afternoon.

The nearly 150 year old pier been damaged numerous times over the year by storms. Damage was reported to a handful of pilings, and to a section of the pier’s walkway.
