Storm Arrives On Central, South Coasts; No Watches, Warnings So Far For Burn Areas

The first wave of two storm systems which have converged has arrived on the Central and South Coasts. But, meteorologists say the total rainfall should be spread out enough that we won’t see serious problems in fire burn zones.

The Central Coast has already received more than a third of an inch of rain, while the totals so far on the South Coast are much lighter.

There could be around an inch of rain on the coast and inland between now and when the storm leaves the region tomorrow. Foothills and mountain areas could top two inches.

We could see some minor flooding, and debris flows. But, with the rainfall not expected to be concentrated, there are no watches or warnings for the Thomas, Woolsey, and Hill brush fire burn zones.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
