Star Boxer Facing Sexual Assault Charges In Ventura County

One of the world’s top ranked boxers tuned himself in to authorities in Ventura County to face rape charges. Victor Manuel Ortiz is facing three charges stemming from an incident at an Oxnard home in March.

A woman told police she had been sexually assaulted, which led to a several month long investigation. An arrest warrant was issued, and the 31 year old man turned himself in Tuesday afternoon at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office East Valley Station for booking.

The 31 year old Tarzana man is scheduled to take part in a nationally televised fight Saturday, but it’s unclear as to whether it will still take place. He held the WBC welterweight belt in 2011, and has a 32-6-3 record, with 25 knockouts.

Ortiz is known to many non-boxing fans because he was a contestant on “Dancing With The Stars.”
