2019 Rose Parade float created by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and Cal Poly Pomona

A float created by teams of people from the two Cal Poly campuses received one of the top honors at the 130th Rose Parade Tuesday. The entry by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Pomona was called “Far Out Frequencies.”

It featured a pair of astronauts and some animated extraterrestrials communicating through music. It received the Extraordinaire Award, being called the most extraordinary float in the New Year’s Day parade in Pasadena.

The 48 foot long float was created in two pieces, one at each campus, which were eventually joined and decorated to create the parade entry.
