New Economic Forecast From Ventura County Center Optimistic About State's Economy

A new economic forecast from California Lutheran University researchers shows that California may be doing better than had been predicted. The California Lutheran University Center for Economic Research and Forecasting had been projecting 2.9% percent growth for the state.   But, CERF economists say California could see 3.3% growth in 2019.

If that happens, the state could actually outpace the nation. The researchers say a review of data shows the state was actually doing better than thought, and that the economy has also been benefitting from some corporate tax reform efforts. Cal Lutheran is the parent of KCLU Radio.

NOTE: This corrects an earlier version of the story which had said the previous projection was for 0% growth.
